The Reverend & the Ghost
A Summary
Logline:  Reverend Jones’ late wife Makeda returns to her husband’s side in the afterlife, appearing to friends but not to him, and he battles with his sanity as she tries to help him with his grief and understanding of “the great beyond” in this comedic look at the congregation and leadership of a soulful and soul filled modern black church.
Reverend Jones and his younger and flashier assistant, Treyvon, are trying to simply get through the funeral of the late Makeda Jones, but the reverend’s own grief and a barrage of unexpected hauntings by his deceased wife are only adding to the confusion.  Makeda’s father Ferguson never needed an excuse to drink to excess or ingest all manner of drugs, and he is in rare form as this comedic play unfolds at the graveside and church.  Makeda’s best friend, the aged Vina, is not surprised Makeda has returned in spirit form and tries to comfort Reverend Jones that his wife is close at hand, but that will be no easy sale as mayhem erupts and the reverend struggles to maintain order over his congregation and his own sanity.
