The Upset
A Summary
Logline:  With a failed collegiate career now at hand, dispirited Joe takes the field one last time against a BCS Bowl bound championship team. But when his co-captain punches him out on national TV during the coin toss, football fans everywhere quickly realize that this will be no ordinary game!  Think "Varsity Blues" meets "For Love of the Game."
Young hopeful Joe Risin was a heavily recruited high school football star but he chose against the big Universities to follow in his father's footsteps. His golden arm was set to put his Tech U school on the map but devastating family news took him out of the game halfway through the season opener.
Three years later, Joe stands before his dispirited team as a failed leader and quarterback. With his spirit and his heart still detached from his game, he has failed to provide anything near a proper winning season for his team and school.
The night before his last game, he finds that his girlfriend has cheated on him with the defensive captain, a disgruntled linebacker who has lost all respect for Joe and his string of failures. Could the next day be any worse?
Well, yes it could. Utter defeat is all but expected as the lowly tech program squares off against a super university team that hasn't had a defeat in two years, a team that Joe passed on during the recruitment period of his high school career.
To make matters even worse, the game will be televised by a major network and the first glimpse of something gone wrong for a national audience, is Joe getting punched out by his own team mate and co-captain during the coin toss.
But what can be learned of this? Is this the karmic knock on the head Joe needs to re-discover his true potential? Is this unusual pop all that is required to finally pull a team together on their last day on the field?
The Upset takes the underdog formula and flips it on its ear. This is no ordinary come from behind and almost winning and gaining the respect of the other team sort of day. This upset is historical. It puts a nation of fans on their collective butts as the action, laughs and drama pour onto the field a mile a minute.
Full of colorful characters who have simply been looking for that lightning rod moment to release their untapped potential, The Upset dives deep into the heart of NCAA football where anything can happen, where life is gleefully lived on the bubble, where passion never dies and where upsets happen all the time.
     But never like this one!
