Feathers of Faith
A Summary
Logline: A confrontation with the self-aggrandizing pastor of his overly legalistic church sends a disillusioned Ray on a post-graduation trip to the Burning Man festival in search of truth and salvation where he naively finds himself drawn to the New Age teachings of a shaman and spiritual warfare ensues.
Ray has grown up in a very strict, legalistic Baptist Church where the words and needs of the pastor are paramount to the teachings of the love of Christ. Upon graduation from college, facing the "what do I do with the rest of my life" moment, Ray and his roommate embark on a coming of age trip to the Burning Man festival in the hope of finding enlightenment or, at the very least, having a good time.
A family emergency derails the roommate and Ray is sent on where he befriends a Hopi "shaman-in-training" fresh out of medical school who introduces Ray to the peace pipe.
After their remarkable and strange experience at Burning Man, Ray accompanies his new Hopi friend, Chevy, back to his ancestral home on the First Mesa near Walpi, Arizona. Ray's arrival has been foreseen by Chevy's shaman grandfather who sees in Ray a teachable soul with unusual powers of healing.
As Ray is drawn into the mystical world of the Hopi, his chest pangs with guilt as the Holy Spirit seeks to unseat Ray from the path he has chosen and steer him back to Christianity. The result is all out spiritual warfare for Ray's soul.
